FACTS AND HISTORY ABOUT SUCCOT

Succot is a Jewish holiday that
commemorates two separate events, the wandering of the Jewish people in
the desert for forty years after their exodus from Egypt and the
celebration of the harvest in Israel. Just like Shavuot, this is a
combination of prayer and festival. Jews remember the exodus from
Egypt and their living in make-shift tents by constructing and
"living in" their own little shacks called Succots. The
harvest is celebrated by having a festival with many fruits and
vegetables.
