SOME
FACTS AND HISTORY ABOUT GRANDPARENT'S DAY DAY
Marian McQuade was a housewife who wanted to create a
day that honored Grandparents. She started her campaign in Fayette County,
West Virginia, which lead to the Grandparent's day being proclaimed a
holiday in West Virginia in 1973. In 1978 Congress passed a bill that
proclaimed the first Sunday after Labor Day to be Grandparents Day.
President Carter signed the bill into law later that year.
What is great about Grandparents is that
they can spoil you without the guilt of a parent. It is time to return the
favor and spoil them back. Give them something they would like, no
matter how impractical or give him and/or her a gift that is practical,
but more than what they would have expected.
