The holiday was originally created
to remember the date when Brigham Young and his Mormon followers first
entered Salt Lake City on July 24th, 1847. The date has been
remembered by Mormon's around the world and is celebrated every year on
July 24th. The holiday has also been called "Covered Wagon
Day" and "Days of '47." The celebrations each year
usually include a festival and are based on an Old West/Pioneer theme.
